Activist's Comments
Julianna Johnson
Environmental Project Director, Iowa Citizens Action Network
"Well, [this demonstration has] been really interesting. I don't have a lot of
technical background on these issues but it kind of all makes sense to me. The
idea
that we're using different kinds of technology working together seems to
make sense. It's a quicker process and then that leads to quicker cleanup.
Question posed to Johnson: Now as a representative of a watchdog organization,
do you run across that attitude of wanting to do cleanup more efficiently?
"Well, I think it's a refreshing attitude... the idea that, I think [places] a lot of
emphasis on the economics side. I'm more interested in the environmental side
and the protection side, but I think those things go hand in hand. So any
process that's going to expedite the cleanup in any way, whether it's saving money or
a
quicker process, that's going to be better for the environment and better for the
citizens and taxpayers..."
