HOW TO SUBSCRIBE TO A LISTSERVER GROUP
-
- What is a LISTSERV? A LISTSERV is a mailing list program designed to copy and distribute electronic mail to everyone subscribed to a specific mailing list. A single piece of e-mail is sent to a central address (the LISTSERV's address), and then the LISTSERV "explodes" or sends copies of the e-mail to every single person subscribing to that particular mailing list.
- LISTSERV groups give you a way to have open discussions with dozens or even hundreds of people on a myriad of topics through e-mail.
- E-mail subscription requests should be sent to the listservers, not
to the groups, please. Example: To subscribe to the International Development group list (devel-l@auvm.american.edu), send mail to: "Listserver@uvm.american.edu" with the following message "Subscribe devel-l John Doe" (Insert your name in for John Doe). The Listserver program will then read your e-mail address and assign your name as an alias.
