RAD
Radiation Absorbed Dose. (1) The special unit of absorbed dose
of
ionizing radiation. A dose of one rad equals the absorption of 100
ergs of radiation energy per gram of absorbing material. (2) One
RAD of absorbed dose id equal to .01 joules per kilogram.
Radionuclide
Any nuclide that emits radiation.
ROD
Record of Decision. A public document that explains which
cleanup
alternative(s) will be used at a National Priorities List site. The
record of decision is based on information and technical analysis
generated during the remedial investigation/feasibility study and
consideration of public comments and community concerns.

Superfund
The program operated under the legislative authority of CERCLA
and
SARA that funds and carries out the EPA solid waste emergency and
long term removal remedial activities. These activities include
establishing the National Priorities List investigating sites for
inclusion on the list, Determining their priority level on the list,
and conducting and/or supervising the ultimately determined cleanup
and other remedial actions.
